| Job Description |
The School Social Worker provides direct and/or indirect social work services to special education certified students. The direct service is initiated by an IEP and consists of utilizing social work skills with particular special education students. This service will vary in form, length, intensity, and methodology depending upon the situation. Indirect service will consist of serving as a liaison, consultant and advocate on behalf of the student, family and/or school. The school social worker may assist teachers, principals, counselors, and parents in understanding and treating the social and emotional behavior of special education students or those suspected of having a disability.
